Detect and Avoid

NGC’s Detect and Avoid (DAA) system mitigates air risk and enables the deployment of beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) missions. This technology detects, tracks and avoids potential collisions with obstacles surrounding the aircraft. This system augments the capability of the autopilot system and provides situational awareness information to the remote pilot through the ground control station.


The airspace is becoming increasingly crowded, especially with the explosion of drones being used in a growing number of applications worldwide. The deployment of drones in the airspace requires risk mitigation measures.

Such measures are even more critical when the drone is operated beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), operated closer to populated areas or when drone size and mass are significant (e.g. exceeding 25 kg). This detection and avoidance technology ensures the safe deployment of drones in the airspace using cooperative and non-cooperative sensor suites. The system is capable of detecting, tracking and reporting in real time the presence of intruders in the surrounding airspace and providing the guidance necessary to perform avoidance manoeuvres either manually or fully automatically.
